silver phosphide formula is a yellow solid in its pure form and becomes darker as it becomes impure. It consists of three silver cations (Ag+) and one phosphate anion (PO43-), giving it a cubic crystal structure.

It dissolves in aqueous ammonia. Large crystals of the compound develop upon evaporation of such ammoniacal solutions.

The crystalline structure of the compound is cubic with a unit cell diameter of about 2.4 .

It is an inorganic salt with the chemical formula Ag3PO4. This compound consists of three silver cations (Ag+) plus one phosphate anion (PO43-).

This compound is not found naturally but can be synthesized from reacting silver nitrate and salt orthophosphate to produce a yellow precipitate. The yellow precipitate is then filtered to recover as a pure solid.

When burnt, the compound emits toxic fumes that can cause coughing and respiratory diseases. It can also damage the eyes and skin.

The chemistry of the compound is similar to that of trisodium phosphide, except that it has a higher concentration of Ag+. Moreover, it is more stable in air.

FT-IR spectroscopy showed that when Ag2O substitutes Na2O, the P-O-Ag bonds become more covalent as the electronegativity of the Ag+ ions increases compared to Na+ ions. The band near 910 cm-1 shifts to higher wave numbers, indicating that the bond strength of the P-O-Ag groups is increased by the addition of Ag2O ions.

This compound has many applications including photography, staining of biological materials, and photocatalytic activity for removing oxygen from water by visible light. It also shows antibacterial properties, which makes it an effective medical agent.
