zirconium foil is a versatile material that provides strong corrosion protection and can be used to make crucibles, furnace linings, abrasives and ceramics. It is also used in the glass industry as well as in the medical and dental fields, where it is commonly used for appliances, implantable fasteners and surgical tools.

The name “zirconium” comes from the mineral zircon, whose chemical composition is ZrO2, which has an oxidation number of +4 (IV). It is an element placed in d-block elements that include titanium and hafnium on the periodic table.

Pure zirconium is a hard, lustrous silver-white metal with an atomic weight of 40. It is a member of the transition metals group on the periodic table.

It has good oxidation resistance and is a high-melting, highly heat-resistant metal. This makes it a popular component in alloys, where it can enhance the properties of other materials and make them more durable.

Commonly known as Zr, this metal is found in minerals throughout the world. It is most often isolated as a byproduct of the mining process for the minerals titanium and tin.
