Iron II Chloride Dihydrate

If you are looking for high-quality products, please feel free to contact us and send an inquiry, email: brad@ihpa.net

iron ii chloride dihydrate is a water soluble crystalline iron source. It is the precursor to hydrated iron (III) oxides which are magnetic pigments. It is also used as a reducing agent in organic synthesis reactions. It is available in a variety of forms, including high purity, submicron and nanopowders.

The dihydrate crystal structure has been determined at 298degK by single-crystal x-ray intensity analysis, with the iron ii and chlorine ions bonded in an isomorphous fashion to the chloride ion. The structure is a close analogue to that of the related lawrencite mineral (Fe, Ni)Cl22H2O, and that of similar meteoritic minerals such as hibbingite, droninoite, and rokuhnite. American Elements produces this material to many standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec; ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade; and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) and follows all appropriate testing standards.
