This is due to the constant cost of cerium oxide and its low production costs in Russia, resulting in a steady and predictable market price for the material. The Russian cerium oxide trader has no plans to lower the price of this element in 2019 and expects it to stay at its present level for the coming week.
Using CeO2 Nanoparticle as Fuel Additives for Diesel Engine
In recent years, several studies have been carried out to examine the effect of the addition of catalytic cerium oxide nanoparticles to diesel on its performance and emissions. These studies have demonstrated that the addition of these nanoparticles to diesel enhances the engine performance as well as reduces the harmful smoke in exhausts. Moreover, iron-doped cerium oxide has been shown to have a higher catalytic activity when compared to pure cerium oxide.
The synthesis of cerium oxide nanoparticles can be performed via several methods. One of the methods involves the use of hydrogen peroxide as a precursor in order to generate a mixture of oxalate and cerium oxide particles with a pH of 9. The oxidation of oxalate to cerium oxide is facilitated by the presence of oxygen vacancies generated by the reduction of the cerium cations.
