The problem is that producing Very High purity alumina in large quantities remains a challenge, because of a number of factors including: – the alumina distribution system; – the pot tending machines; – the pot and anode changing cycle controls; – the anode quality; – the anode cover and other work standards in the pot rooms.

In addition, a number of impurities are spread throughout the operation by the air-swept autogenous mills and pneumatic conveying systems used in most modern smelters. These systems can be effective in reducing smelter downtime and delivering fast, efficient operations, but can also introduce dozens of impurities into the pot line.

Therefore, there is a need for a new method for producing alumina with increased purity. One such method is to reduce the manufacturing cost by greatly simplifying the process.

The present invention provides a method for producing ultra high purity alumina, which can remove the impurities from the alumina in the sintering process and improve the production yield, thereby reducing the manufacturing cost. The method comprises: – adding ammonium sulfate to the high purity alumina; – adsorbing / co-impurity the impurities on the alumina; – preparing an aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate; – removing NH 4 Al (SO 4) 2 from the alumina; – drying and refining.
